Message from Director Lovingier
Jail Inspections
The second quarter jail inspections went extremely well. The dedication
and efforts of the staff to maintain our facilities and provide a healthy
environment for staff and inmates was impressive. Your efforts truly
make a difference, keep up the great work!
National Latino Peace Officers Association
I was recently approached by Sgt. Cuauhtemoc Espinoza and members of
the National Latino Peace Officers Association and was informed of their
intent to start a Denver Sheriff Department Chapter of this organization. I
was encouraged by their commitment to fuel interest of law enforcement
within the Latino community, as well as their respect for the La Ley
organization and the F.O.P as a labor group. I felt confident in the fact that their work is not
intended to supplant the efforts of current employee organizations, but rather add value in our effort
to promote law enforcement issues and the community.

Boxing Smoker
I had the opportunity to attend the boxing smoker on May 2, 2008. This was truly a positive event
and benefited two worthy causes (Cops Fighting Cancer and the Aurora Police Athletic League). All
members of the Denver Sheriff Department Boxing Team are to be commended for their hard work,
perseverance and dedication to this sport. I would also like to recognize the Denver Sheriff
Foundation and its volunteers for their support of this event. I can say without qualification that a
good time was had by all!
